Heresy. You can do soda with Bookers, or Knob, or some other high test booze. Never anything as nuanced as Blanton's.

And he certainly doesn't take advice on alcoholic beverages from the sort of fellow who is willing to drink Scoresby's for free rather than pop on down to the terminal bar and get something that isn't tested weekly under an FDA consent order.

It seems right to me. The sort of douche who'd be so fleeced should be fleeced viciously, and frequently.

Lemmy is quite the notable celebrity these days. I just read that he was a close friend of Chrissy Hynde, and that she credits him with being a huge inspiration in starting the Pretenders. It seems the media can't fawn over the guy enough. Is he as decent a guy in person as portrayed in the stories?
(I dig Motorhead. But I never though much about the people in the band until the past couple of years.)

I’m grateful to Jack Daniel’s for producing the minor plot point in “Scent of a Woman” that alerted me to the fact that I was watching a very shitty movie. The title should have warned me; the premise should have warned me, but it was Pacino uttering the line that it’s John Daniel’s to someone who’s known him as long as he has that prepared me for the masturbatory shitshow courtroom scene that won Pacino his only Oscar.

That is the best description of that movie I've ever read.

It's definitely a different taste than true scotch, but I would almost say spice instead of sweet. The sweet is what keeps me from getting too interested in the Irish.

A splash is, literally, that. If the soda exceeds more than 25% of the bourbon, I make the bartender re-pour. Actually, these days, service has gone to shit, so I usually just get the soda on the side.
Remember the old trick where you put a straw in a glass, put a finger over the top hole in the straw, and draw up a miniscule amount of liquid in the straw? I do that twice and I have a splash of soda.

Lemmy taught me how to make a proper jack and coke.
1. Fill the glass with ice.
2. Pour jack in the glass until it is about 7/8 full.
3. Float the coke over the remaining 1/8.

Maybe I’m the one whiffing now, but we’re just gonna pretend that third movie never happened?
