In California at least, this sort of conduct by schools -- lots of promises, especially oral promises, by admissions reps -- led to a regulatory scheme that requires all kinds of disclosures to prospective students, with heavy emphasis on the %% of graduates in recent years who actually found jobs. (And, as in so many cases, those disclosures are often rendered worthless by the complete failure of most people to read things they have to sign.)
|
That regulatory scheme was caused by two related things: the near-collapse of the student loan industry in the 1980's, and the rise of diploma mills, often catering to minority and/or low-income students. Reforms across the country led to stricter attendance policies and other safeguards for almost all vocational schools. For some schools, the regulatory costs were too much to bear and there was a lot of consolidation of private, for-profit vocational schools, especially in California.
Having said that, if the school back East has sensible administrators, they'll produce her admissions documents where she initialed a stack of disclosure forms which promised career assistance, not a career.
The problem with the newspaper article is that it lists her name. What would you do with her resume if you were in HR? If I ran a company, I'd make sure she never got an interview there.
The opposite problem exists with RT's youtube link. Em? Is "Em" short for Emma? Emmy? Emily? Until last year Emily was the most popular girls' name. It had held that title for the past 12 years. And what name usurped Emily? Emma! That's not helpful. We don't know anything about this woman except that she's (1) a bad listener, (2) crazy.

You are misusing my made-up word.
A "blow job camel" is not a man who gets a lot of blowjobs. Camels aren't animals that get a lot of water. Fish get a lot of water. When fish are out of water, they're the main character in a movie made in the 1980's. Camels are cigarettes. Or cartoon characters created for nefarious purposes in the 1980's.
Rather, a blowjob camel is a man who realizes that life is short and that blowjobs can cease at any time. Accordingly, he savors them when given the opportunity. Much like a camel at an oasis.

Hank, do you remember back in the days before you began with a Prune Juice/Cialis cocktail, back when you were my age? Do you remember those days?
I should be storing up for the long walk through the Sahara, shouldn't I?

I believe you are a bit off. I think the term, Paigowian in origin, refers to a man who has an insatiable appetite for getting blow jobs, as if he were a camel storing them up the long dry spell ahead. So I think Hank's usage is correct. The man, knowing he is about to break up with his crazy e-mailing girlfriend and that there might be a long desert trek before the next girfriend, spends a week filling his hump, so to speak.

while I agree with the entire substance of this post, I wonder if we might refine a word choice. To me the term "Paigowian" should parallel "Orwellian", and refer to a style; rambling, typo filled, funny, borderline-lucid rants. Your usage, limited to origin, could be handled by the more straight forward "originated by Paigow Princess."
As such:
PLF- Hank, wasn't "Blow job camel originated by Paigow?"
Hank- Yeah, of course, she'd say, "I invented that!" but yeah, her idea.
PLF- All I am sure of it was usually used in a Paigowian post.
Hank- For sure. Hey can you shoot me the link to where the mods saved the pictures from Breasticle day II?

I agree with what you say, and I've defended these cases successfully on behalf of California schools. But according to what Ty posted, the suit is about the school's failure to provide the promised career assistance, not the career.

Wait a second. It just hit me. Rambling? Typo-filled? Borderline-lucid?
OMFG! You. Are. Paigow.
I knew you hadn't really left us. Don't worry. You're secret is safe with me.

Just saw this. Funny. Except . . . hating Ed Hardy shirts has jumped the shark almost to the same extent that saying something has jumped the shark has jumped the shark:

Not sure. Can anyone identify the episode when, like, The Sopranos started to suck?

You should un-pop the collar on your Melt Banana polo. You look like an Ed Hardy-wearing douchebag.
