He was undoubtedly one of, if not the, greatest poets in the English language during the latter half of the 20th Century. He was also a racist prick. Some people can separate the two and enjoy the work on its own terms, but I can't read his poems (even the amazing ones, like the one Atticus posted) without hearing the other stuff in the background. |
