And if it's costing $2 billion, I really think someone must have jacked up the rates. To say nothing of the way we are deploying an aircraft carrier with its operations group of over 30 ships to support his visit- what's that all about? And why can't he just use a normal aircraft carrier group with a dozen or so ships?
This is atrocious. How did this happen? And why is he spending all this money abroad instead of here at home? I think foreign travel should only be allowed when the money is spent here.

Just realized this started from Bachmann. Please refrain from repeating things she says, even for mocking purposes. It just feeds the troll.

Everything I wrote was on Fox, and I am sure they fully verified all of their sources.

Ann Coulter tells me that with this election the average IQ of Republican Senators has gone up 20%. I don't know, if they get much smarter, they may get all elitist and arrogant like the Democrats, too. But at least they won't lie.

Why do you know what Ann Coulter says?
You're acting like the D version of Slave--plumbing the depths of the opposition to paint them all as loony tunes, rather than merely bad for the country as you see it.

I've read Fox, Politico, and NRO today. I was so happy to hear about all the R senator's IQs going up, because mine was definitely going down reading that stuff.
Watching these guys attempting to govern is going to be very, very sad.

So, who *did* start it?
And don't cite the "india times" or whatever it was. I want to know who introduced the absurdity to America.

She seems about right for a Minority Leader, which is a much different role than Speaker.
But I can see her being a quite effective thorn in the side of the Orange One who will presumbly be in the chair.

- The U.S. and nations abroad are at odds over economic policy. Among the issues, conservative governments in Britain and Germany are pressing for fiscal austerity measures in Europe that Obama's administration is resisting implementing in the U.S.
"The rest of the world is looking more like the tea party," which wants to rein in government spending, according to Kenneth Rogoff, a former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund.
Hmmm, old Europe thinks the Dems have gone too far?

David Brooks On The Noble And Tortured Midwestern Voter

If Balzac were alive today, he would plant himself in that region of America that starts in central New York and Pennsylvania and then stretches out through Ohio and Indiana before spreading out to include Wisconsin and Arkansas. He’d plant himself in the working-class families in this area.
|
I could tell right away that today's Brooksian eructation was going to be particularly fragrant (Hank, grab a dictionary - I'm going to use college words).
Quote:
|
Democrats have, at least temporarily, blown the opportunity they were given to connect with the industrial Midwest. Voters in this region face structural problems, not cyclical ones. Intensely suspicious of government, they are nonetheless casting about for somebody, anybody, who can revive their towns and neighborhoods.
|
That would be the government, since the private sector isn't hiring anyone or spending any money. But because of their "intense suspicion" of government, they all just squinted real hard and voted in people who will be sure to cut whatever public sector jobs there are, reduce aid to states, counties and municipalities, and generally encourage America's flinty yeomen to get creative and entreprenurial with their structural problems.
Quote:
|
Disillusioned with big spending and big debt, they at least want to see their government reflect their values of discipline, order and responsibility.
|
Again with the current government (cough - you know who - cough) not reflecting those well-known American values of discipline, order and responsibility. Leaving aside the fact that the American public is thoroughly and legendarily self-indulgent, instant-gratification-addicted and irresponsible, the sages of the heartland have turned to the Tea Party to settle things down. Discipline, order and responsibility -- the Tea Party's got em in spades.
Quote:
|
American politics are volatile because nobody has an answer for these people. They will remain volatile until somebody finds one.
|
Yes. Or, alternatively, they will remain volatile as long as they are willing to believe bullshit about how the budget can be balanced without raising taxes on anyone, or cutting the services the government provides to them (despite their intense suspicion). They demand answers! Except when they're answers they don't like. Then they demand new politicians! Someone is pulling on my Balzac.

The Rogoff quote has to be out of context. Since when does the Tea Party want to reign in spending? (Keep your government hands of my Medicare!)

Oh, good! More insight from Fox! I thought their help highlighting the two hundred quingazillion being spent on the India trip was already above and beyond for the day!

I thought Germany and the UK were on board with us spending money, they just don't want to have to spend any themselves.
I think it's generally understood that stimulus will come from the US and China, not Europe.
