No, especially these days, we can't separate booze and politics. I just couldn't handle that one.

I was just looking for an explanation for the mouldy cork. And based on your excellent FNC meta-reporting, I assumed your accuracy.

Anyway, I was ambling about the kitchen and decided to read the morning's to do list. This was difficult, and for a moment, I was totally confused (also wondering why or how I came to be holding a Vitamin water I'd taken from the garage, but hadn't recalled picking up). Then it struck me. Yes, the cookie had worked.
I promptly ate a Snicker's from the remaining Halloween candy and some horseradish cheese. This gave me terrible heartburn around 4:00. I woke up once more, went down to the kitchen and had a Rolaid. All was good once more (except for the knowing, judgmental glares of the Maine Coon cat... astride the kitchen island, he gave me the usual stare: You're a dim creature. And you're wearing your wife's sweatpants again... Get your own, you cheap son of a bitch.)
It is trying living this life, but trust me, you will get through that 18 y.o. scotch. You'll grit through the occasional cork remnants and damnit, you will like it.

I didn't think I'd ever find a good opportunity to post this gif. I was wrong.

Well, I suppose one should spell it "mould" with Scotch, right-e-o?
But no mold taste. Cork was just all dried out.

I know you are looking for a fox recap today, and I'm sorry not to have delivered yet. This was the most entertaining part of my fox read today. It's from their editorial, and has few facts, so I'm not criticisizing it for either slipshod journalism or bias in reportin. No, it's here for the sheer humor value:
Quote:
The left hates the spending cuts, and the right hates the tax increases. Soon-to-be-ex-Speaker Nancy Pelosi calls the plan “simply unacceptable.” And Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, jibes that Bowles and Simpson “propose ‘giving our children a better life’ by spending, taxing more.” In other words, no better life at all.
Let’s consider some of the elements of the plan: Raising the retirement age? Tell that to a blue collar worker who has been lifting boxes all his life. Eliminating the mortgage interest deduction? Tell that to someone whose house is already “under water.” Eliminating the employer deduction for health insurance? Tell that to an employer who is already on the edge of dropping health coverage for employees.
|
Note how the "left" hates the cuts, but Fox leads with an attack on those same cuts. Yes, indeed. Thanks, fox. And thanks to Rs everywhere for attacking the tough issues, and for their consistency on these issues.

Okay, I'm being lazy--but is the proposal wrt Health Insurance benefit deductibility *just* wrt the Employer's half of FICA? Individuals would still get to exclude the value of the benefit from income for both FICA and PIT purposes?

Only one of the three items attacked by Fox was a spending cut - the raise in SS retirement age. The other two are tax increases - reducing tax deductions. Your reporting is as bad as theirs.

Look at my bolding, and my note that they led with the cut.

This was reporting and not an editorial?
