Would be interested to hear from the parents out there on this one.
I've flown with my kids many times. I don't remember any of them ever being frisked. The TSA agents I've dealt with who wanted to do an extra search of me or my bag have been very professional and polite -- explaining what they were doing before they did it, asking if I had questions or wanted to see a supervisor. (Quite honestly, I have been shocked by how professional and polite they have been.) If it were to happen -- say my son setting off a metal detector -- I would imagine that the TSA would tell me that they needed to give him a patdown of his shirt and waist area. If it were done in that manner, with me standing there and no lingering gropes, I wouldn't be bothered at all.

The youtube video was weird. It looked like the parent took the kid's shirt off. I have trouble imagining that -- it happening, or there being any reason for it to happen -- and the TSA's response to the incident was that there was no reason for it.

In contrast to this, a friend of mine returned from a group trip to Cuba with his adolescent daughter, and the Customs people made her take off her shirt. That pissed a lot of people off, and rightly so -- who gives a shit if Cuba sells a t-shirt? And yet, I didn't hear much about that example of intrusive government action on FOX.
