ps I edited my original post and you look as if you censored it with this reply. you didn't of course, but you might want to consider my edited post as it likely answers your question.

I just replied before your edit was posted.

You can brush up on-line and so can I, but let's see you apply your masterful understanding of unions. What was it about Rhee's proposals that left the unions feeling threatened, and why? Don't just tell me that I don't understand anything about unions. That's a BS debating tactic that may have impressed the kids in Pennypacker who came from public high schools, but at this point it's older than Bilmore. Assume I don't know anything about unions, then. Answer the question anyway.

on another subject

From "a professor at a major research university":

Quote:
I'm not sure whether the continuing lunatic exploits of the TSA have been driven more by terrorized bureaucrats or greedy lobbyists, but in either case I despair for the future.

I'm a tenured Professor of Theoretical Physics at [a major university], and I've been on the faculty for [several decades]. I'm not sure I agree with everything your physics correspondents have written over the past few days, but I certainly agree fully with one thing: In spite of the nominal radiation limits cited for the xray and submillimeter wave AIT machines, there is absolutely no assurance of the amount of radiation actually delivered to an individual subject. Perhaps if each person were issued a dosimeter print-out or a radiation technician were on the job full-time at each machine, there would be some reason to trust the technology. At present the TSA's attitude seems to be, gee, what a neat technology, let's radiate the entire population and look for problems later. The situation is bizarre, particularly in view of the stringent safety precautions mandated in other parts of American life. Um, thanks, but the radiation machines are not for me or my family.
Much more here.

No, that was for other people. I was still hoping you'd actually say something useful about D.C., instead of just impugning me. At this point, that seems pretty unlikely, but I'm foolish that way.

I think I have provided way more content than you. perhaps the simplest way to sum up the issue is that the voters of DC include a high percentage of pompous people who think they understand more than they do, and so the Union got away with some shit. I know you feel otherwise.

since only a 3rd poster claimed knowledge of unions let's wait and see who he feels is closest to the truth once he comes back.

The police are incompetent undereducated fascists at baseline. I don't think their unionisation adds to or detracts from that impaired state.

Been in a proxy war lately? Carl Icahn bought a bunch of that stock years ago and promptly dumped it a month later, after discovering how utterly fucked the company was. See also: Kirk Kerkorian.

Blaming shareholders is silly. Their only crime was staying in that hopeless piece of shit as long as they did.

The answer to this is irrelevant to the two questions I asked you, and also irrevelant to your practical understanding of unions, which I am guesstimating at less than zed.

maybe the problem is that his actual ignorance has given him confidence in his "working knowledge?"

remember how adder thought he'd do really well with the ladies since he stayed home and watched so much porn during college and LS, plus took a womens studies class?
