Re: My God, you are an idiot.

Atrios nails it:

Quote:
Just a reminder that there is no debt ceiling crisis. There's a fake crisis started by Republicans and then embraced by the White House so that everyone gets to use the fake crisis to try to do unpopular things in such a way that nobody, in theory, actually gets the blame.

A few people need to show up in Congress in the middle of the night, cast a voice vote, and we can move on to the next fake crisis.
This is so fucking irritating.

As Hank would say, am I on ignore? $1T cost, 4,000,000 jobs. $250,000 per job.

I also believe that Holtz-Eakin or some other ass endorsed the simplistic calculation sometime in January or February of 2009.

What economic effect do you think would occur if a plague was introduced, transmittable only by the interior of an envelope that delivers food stamps?

Query: do you think every provision in the stimulus package was geared toward job production? Was it all geared to job production in year one?

So the 10% that went to Medicaid, for example, was that a jobs program? How about the National Science Foundation research grants? Or the funds for unemployment insurance?

I agree that the $285 million of tax breaks were likely very expensive ways to produce jobs, but the Rs insisted on those. But the grants made to arts organizations specifically conditioned on preserving or creating jobs: there I'll bet there was real efficiency, since hiring in the arts is pretty cheap.

But, shit, can't I get a clubby response or somethign. Arguing with someone whose going to agree with me is kind of dull.

Blow me. I didn't cite a specific number. My view that it was inefficient is mostly based on the inherent inefficiency of tax cuts as a job-creating tool.

Nice.

Speaking of people with nothing to contribute to society, you still haven't answered my question about the late-night bars list.

Ah, I figured you would have solved that at home.

Sometimes, as attorneys age, they start to lose their edge, cutting corners, citing facts they pull out of their ass, trying to cover for it with half-baked bravado or half-thought out excuses (mad cow!).

It's good to see Hank is getting some company over at Penske's Medicaid Palace.
