It's a callback to WWII and the battle of said canal.

Either that, or Hank's interminable Picasso ramblings finally sent Shifter over the edge.

Next time, you should crop out the face on this one.

Yesterday's was perfection, though. Except for the Green Bay jerseys.

That's the way it goes, I guess. I appreciate the PMs of support I've received from Greedy, TM, Hank and others. It really doesn't make a lot of sense and there's not a lot you can say. I can't say it either but I appreciate the effort.

He's currently being ravaged by infections. Imagine sinus pressure constantly in your head, that's what he's dealing with. It got so bad that it burst his eardrums.

I don't really know what to do other than to try to make him comfortable, which is impossible. It sucks seeing someone suffer like that. And he's lost so much weight he looks like a Holocaust victim or an anorexic.

It looks like the infections are about ready to kill him. My Mom is freaked out because she's one of those people who feel like if you work hard enough and figure things out, you can overcome life's struggles. She refuses to acknowledge that there are things in life bigger than her, or if she does, they're of the tidal wave variety.

This isn't fun. My brother and I have managed to have some cool moments together, like watching the Battle for Guadacanal on the Military Channel toether.

But it hurts.
I'm really sorry to read this. My sympathy.

Sometimes the body is so ridiculous, you gotta be a little forgiving of the face. Although, I don't think she's butter.

You prefer her to Monday's submission?

Yeah, well the "Jap bastard" thing kind of fell flat. I thought it was kind of funny from a "they really used to talk like that" persepctive, but thankfully I don't do this for a living.

No, I'm not joking. I thank everyone for their kind thoughts, but that's not really why I'm posting this. It's just venting.

I did all my crying a couple of months ago when I found out that the cancer had spread. I got good and drunk, and when my Mom came home she smashed through my remaining beers with an axe. It was unsettling, but I think it was healthy for her to have a physical outlet for the emotional pain she must feel, and I was happy to provide it for her.

It's just bizarre. My daughter was down recently and my brother apologized to her for not being a better host. She had tears immediately.

And yet I am still willing to bet good money that Adder is a virgin.

I'm so very sorry. FWIW, two other Lawtalkers posters have been in my kids' litany of bedtime prayers for more than a year. While I still have no concrete evidence that the prayers of small children have ever changed an outcome, if you have no objection we will add yours. Since I've either never known or have long forgotten your real name, they will all get a definite thrill out of praying for the Shape Shifter family.

My brother shares the same ambivalence towards religion as I do, but he enjoys hearing this sort of thing. I'll let him know. Thank you.

And my real name is "Hank."

Re: Stuck on Repeats

Okay, so my brother's divorce finally came through. He got the papers when he was in the hospital learning that his cancer had spread. I looked at him and said "Congratulations."

I'm not devout, but do I have to marry her under Jewish Law? I really don't want to. She is not attractive and I find her to be a hideous human being. I don't want to deal with that kind of shit. She's crazy.

Does their civil divorce relieve me from that obligation? Does it matter if she's a lapsed Catholic?

They're still married under Jewish law until he gives her a get. Tell your brother that if he were to effectuate the divorce under both civil and Jewish law, you would consider it a mitzvah.

Just angry hearing shit like that. Praying, yes, but gets me mad more than anything else. Been through it a lot -- professionally on a daily basis and personally in several situations too tragic to imagine.
