Vermont was considered and rejected, because we'd have to show up there personally to get a license, and then wait 3 days. I need something in NY, CT or MA.

But that's the right idea. I'm thinking of a resort-y type place (because there will be a staff wedding planner who can help), but just dialing it down for this (lower-case "e") event.

But even for a small ceremony, you need SOMETHING, right? Flowers? A guy playing the violin or something? God, I'm hopeless.

Do any of those states have residency requirements for getting the license? Maybe you looked into that when you considered and rejected Vermont.

How many people are coming to this quickie wedding? Immediate family?

Only three guests. The only reason we're not doing "town hall" is because of the kids (the three guests). Minimal planning is the goal.

Couldn't you simply do "town hall" and then have a rabbi come to the house? Kids could attend at the house.

I got married at a restaurant with a garden here in NYC. I spent hardly anything on flowers and the restaurant just had their usual florist put together centerpieces with the colors we liked without telling them it was for a wedding. If you choose a similar plan, there isn't much you need to plan (although it's always more than you think). But you can get it done quickly if you keep numbers down.
