I thought it was supposed to be a baby shower cake for someone who is scheduled to have a C-section but the little sign makes no sense at all. It's just one of the many freaky baby shower cakes on Cakewrecks.

Here's one where it seems like the person ordered a cake decorated as a baby basket but someone heard wrong:

And these cupcakes are just wrong on so many levels:

Maybe it's for when you are going in and out of air conditioned spaces and need the scarf to be a shawl when you get cold?

I see it every six months when I go to the antique festival in Warrenton. There are a half dozen or so trashy chic boutiques that thrive off that look, and the ladies that run those shops dress appropriately.

I actually bought my most recent pair of cowboy boots from one of those stalls.

I am a native. I've lived in this state for most of my life. I have seen the look from time to time, mainly as a parody or a joke, but never on the scale I saw it this weekend. I would say at least 1/3 of the women under 30 on or around campus were wearing boots with either shorts, a short skirt, or a short dress.

I would say it was cultish, but I was wearing a burnt orange polo and tan shorts, so I don't have much room to talk.

The game wasn't so bad. It was my kid's first college football game, so anything short of an actual murder on the field would have been OK. We knew it would be blow out, so we found other things to focus on. Girls in boots was one of those things. We also sat next to a family that knew the backup QB. So, it was pretty exciting when they put him in and he not only passed off the first play, but ran in the touchdown at the end of his first drive.

Got to eat at Dirty Martins, but otherwise it was an in and out sort of affair. BTW, the AT&T Conference center is a very nice hotel if you have friends who want to stay near campus. We had a parking pass for the game, but the hotel was about the same distance.

I can't believe that AJ Jacobs has not written a book or article in which he spends a month or two sampling all of the of the products advertised in spam.

I wear scarves in the summer. It gets really cold in places with a/c.

Unless you're on a ranch, I think cowboy boots always look corny.

Our last trip out to Sisters, Oregon for a family reune featured a mass purchase of cowgirl boots by every girl and woman in the extended clan. I'm told the quality and selection outstripped anything back east. But the look is now most in with all our daughters' friends, who thought they looked way cool.

Cowgirl hats were also procured.

Would he actually ever receive the advertised "products"?

Huh. For some reason, I figured everyone had a Cavenders.

My favorite boot shop is Allen's Boots in Austin, but it seems every smallish town in Texas has one. At some point or another when I was a kid, I got some from the Brenham Saddle Shop. I bought a pair right before I went to college at Rhodes Boots in Giddings. I need to get their soles replaced because I've nearly worn them through. My brother had his handmade by a guy down in the Valley right before he took off for school up north. Our last name is embossed on them.

What's moronic about boots and short skirts? I don't wear pants and I don't wear long skirts because I'm not Amish, so in the winter I don't have much of a choice but to wear boots with short skirts. It's actually pretty comfortable.

This seems to include, among other things, the Uggs/short skirt look, which betrays confusion on multiple levels.
