I just checked Rand Paul's website, since I view him and Kentucky as the Ur-ground of the Tea-Party-As-Full-of-Shit, and saw that his position is that he would likely oppose this compromise. I'd bet that most Tea Party electees say the same -- but I'm not going to check, as having to visit Rand Paul's site was punishment enough for any sins I may have committed.

 | Let's play a game:

The US 2010 base defence budget is $530 billion. I'm willing to cut 10% of this and save us $53 billion.

Your turn. |

 | I'm willing to whack Medicare Part D, entirely. 2010 budget savings = $68B.

I'm willing to *not* fix the doctor patch, and see what happens. Savings ~$12B.

I'm willing to *not* have the AMT patch--why not move toward a flat tax?. Added revenue ~$70B.

There's over 10% of the 2011 deficit right there.

Your turn.

 | No fair, you took mine.

But, okay. Farm subsidies are about $20 billion. I'll cut 100% of that. (Think you can find one Tea-Partier who will go there with me?)

 | Oh, come on, cut the military another 10% - as long as we don't have to figure out which 20%. |

Also, Rand qualifies as a TP'r and is in favor of bigger military cuts than any other senator, so tread lightly.
