I just bought a MacBook and have no regrets. It's purty.

It was convenient and relatively unnoticeable when there were tubes going in my mouth and down my throat. People became aware of it after the tubes came out. It's been an ongoing process, all of it, and health insurance has assigned a case manager. Health insurance, not dental, is covering the tooth thing.

Another "things going on in LA that RT will miss so she pimps it here instead" post
http://www.cirqueberzerk.com/
Opening night was last night, and by all accounts, it was pretty awesome.
Quote:
It would be P.T. Barnum’s worst nightmare.
If he weren’t so dead.
It’s been called everything from "a circus on acid" to "French burlesque meets Sweeney Todd." Cirque Berzerk's unique flavor of adult psychedelic vaudevillian tomfoolery returns to the Los Angeles State Historic Park. Performances run Thursday, June 18th through Sunday, July 5th, 2009.
Born at Burning Man in 2005 and named one of “L.A.’s 10 Weirdest Events of 2008” by the Los Angeles Times, Cirque Berzerk has tickled the collective innards of L.A. and beyond with a psychotically-tinged sultry show filled with sinewy, breathtaking acrobatics, sensual aerialists, gothic stilt walkers, fetishy burlesque dancers, voluptuous contortionists and a host of punk rock clowns, none of whom know how to make cute balloon animals for the kiddies. "Wholesome family fun" it ain't.
To see why Cirque Berzerk should-in our humble opinion-top your things to do list, feel free to kick around the site for awhile. Get to know us better. We’re glad you’re here. With that said, and without further adieu, welcome and enjoy the show.
|
Because they've grown so much outside of Burning Man in the last year and a half, I don't think they're going to make it to the playa this year. Which is a bummer, because they're really, really awesome and its the only place I get to see them.
Thursdays through Sundays until July 5. Prolly a good idea to browse through the website to decide if its the type of thing you'd want to take your kids to. I don't think there's anything TOO crazy for kids, but it is decidedly NOT a kid oriented circus. I'd probably wear something outrageous to the performance, were I to go to one, but YMMV.

"Never" is technically incorrect (a lawyer's favorite kind of incorrect). SSDs have a limited number of write cycles that probably won't be reached by the average user, but you won't see SSDs replacing HDDs anytime soon for write intensive things like file servers. Netbooks, sure.

I have friends going to this tonight. I'll hear their report and decide if I can make a show. Would have to be week after next, as we're traveling again next weekend.
And in the interest of not over-posting, I have a 15" MacBook Pro that is about 18 months old. So far it has been great. Primary use is all my graphic design stuff (and while you could get the programs on PC, that is definitely not the industry standard), but I've also used it for everything else. My 3 year-old Dell laptop is rather sad about this development.
Why is no one suggesting MacBook Air for fringey? Is it too delicate?

For a full-time computer, its performance and features are limited, especially relative to price. Besides, she has an iPhone, and that's even more portable.

What are you using it for? If it's just internet, word, excel, probably not. If you're doing photos, video, etc., perhaps.
It has fewer jacks/ports, if you need those, less memory (not upgradable), slower hard drive, etc. You're paying a premium for half the weight.
You can compare offerings here:

Macbook air is only suitable for someone who travels extensively. Plus, now that the new macbooks have a built-in 7 hour battery, most travelers would easily add the pound for three hours of battery life.

iPhone is fun!
I took a picture of myself in the mirror and posted it up on Facebook. Standing, not walking.

pondering taking pictures of scars. Thoughts? How do I get rid of them? They are all not open wounds now but have progressed to scar status. Mostly medical care-related ones.
