Actually, it's Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, who is pretty connected to the local sports scene. He also speculates that the Lions might want Jackson. Hank?

I'll be one of the first to see him in a Vikings uniform. They're coming to Reliant next week for the third pre-season game.

I wonder if the squirrel appeared in their pictures?

"Police were called to a home on Buddy Phelps Road late on the night of Aug. 11 to take a report on a stolen dildo."

http://www.nwfdailynews.com/articles...lls-report.htm

"The man who lived there said a woman had lived with him for about a week and when she left, she took his dildo. He added that he had paid about $70 for it. The officer asked him if he'd bought it for the woman. The man said he'd bought it to use with that woman, as well as with other women."

That's an Onion News Service publication, isn't it? Look at this one, too:

http://www.nwfdailynews.com/news/sex...old-asked.html

"NICEVILLE -- A man fell because he was stupid and wanted sex, he told officers.

The man, who later told police he was from Holland, was found on the ground between his driveway and the road at Linden Avenue with a hurt leg. When officers asked what happened he replied that he fell because of his desire to have sex, according to a Niceville Police Department report."

Okay...

I'm probably the only one watching TO's reality show, but last we left it, he was thinking about whether or not he should cheat on some chicken head looking to get married for fame and cash. This, by itself, is no big deal because we all know Owens is a moron. But do you know who he is wondering whether he should cheat with?

Jessica Fucking White. And, surprisingly, she's hotter on the show than she is in this photo. You should watch just for her.

here's my problem. I stay glued to the TV watching the Tigers, pennant race!!! but then I look at standings and realize the first place tigs would be 4th in the east and third in the west- and I'm down to "of course it matters- if we get to a series our superior top 3 starters trump it all!

but i can't really buy into it

Why not? That, combined with whoever is the hottest team going into the playoffs (often the wildcard team) is the new formula for winning in the post-season. Given the fact that TV stretches these series out way too long, making your first 2-3 starters that much more important, isn't that exactly what you want? If they played a 7 game series in 9 days, doesn't that give the big market teams with a deep starting staff a much bigger advantage?

I'm waiting for Peavy. We're still only 2 games back.

Sports Scandals

NCCAA: Reportedlly about to strip Memphis of it's 2008 wins (and championship appear) because Derick Rose had someone take the SAT for him. Penalty for Rose, who is now in the NBA? Basically nothing. Penalty for the school? Yup. Penalty for the kids in the program now (who had nothing to do with the "violation")? Probably, we'll find out. Penalty for Calipari? Further hit to his reputation?

Does any of that make sense?

Plaxico: Reportedly pled and agreed to two years in jail, after facing up to 3.5, I think. Does that seem like a lot to anyone else for the possession of a gun other than in connection with (another) crime? Granted, he lost control of his weapon and it discharge in a public place, which makes him particularly reckless.

Fuck no. He was carrying a loaded gun in a public place, and (I think) drinking. And obviously not very well in control of the gun. Illegal in New York, stupid everywhere.

Fuck him. When people get shot in nightclub fights, it's not because someone decided to run back home and get his gun.

Two reality shows

Impressions of Top Chef?

This looks like a really strong group of people: a few James Beard nominees, a Michelin star. It also seems to be a more tattooed group than usual. An episode of LA Ink a few weeks back pointed out that a lot of chefs are fully sleeved, which is kinda funny considering their clientelle. I suspect that the guy who won the elimination round and the chick who won the quickfire will be on well towards the end of the season. Those brothers are also probably going to go far as well. One guy already annoys the shit out of me.

Impressions of Hard Knocks?

I hate to admit it, but Chad Ochocinco is a funny, funny guy.
