Another excellent show, especially the installment where the body-builder who played the Hulk (Lou Ferrigno?) got to compete and scare the crap out of everyone.

Wait. One. Minute. You shop at Target because you're NOT fat? This makes less sense than Cintra Wilson hating on the beautiful. Soon we'll all be engaging in canine necrophliac fellatio.

If a male-only rule by the PGA would be analogous to the Negro Leagues, what is the female-only rule of the LPGA? There must be male golfers that would like the opportunity to win an LPGA purse; why are we allowed to tell them no without violating their human rights?

She got her start writing a snotty column in the lesser of San Francisco's two papers. Her mistake was clearly in thinking that just because it was safe to mock the people who weren't reading the San Francisco Examiner and never would, that it was also safe to mock the people who don't read the New York Times and never would. Bill Keller threw her under a bus because you can't mock middle America and continue to call yourself America's newspaper of record. "Take that shit to the Observer" -- I can hear it now.

Atticus, you have completely missed the point. This is the kind of argument that the #1 gunner in my law school, Anthony Finkelstein, would make when he wasn't fighting hypotheticals and looking like Arnold Horshack. I have to say it's disappointing.

In a non-70's-timewarp kind of way.
AON, I recently went to a Wal-Mart in the south to purchase swim trunks (long story). The racks were dominated by XXXL, 4XL and 5XL sizes in day-glo orange.
In TCOTU we rarely see anything above an XL. But if "asshole" were a clothes size, we'd make Wal-Mart look like Baby Gap.

Except her attitude is the sine qua non for a fashion writer, especially one from a big city paper.
Fashion -- as opposed to style -- is defined by the contrast with "middle America," not the embrace of it.

You can exalt rather than denigrate. Or you can cast stones while wearing twenty pounds of white Rocky Horror makeup. She chose option B.
Too bad, so sad. Flush.

Oh, come one. That was just a silly posed photo, in which she undoubtedly wished to simultaneously underscore and poke fun at her aloof image. When she's just hanging out with pals at book publishing parties, she seems a lot more laid back and fun:

I was raised Catholic. I have been able to see through the dogma to recognize gay sex is acceptable, but sex with domestic pets that is also single sex, and technically sodomy, is still something that gives me cold feet. i mean, i live in the mid-west.

Do they allow women to compete in dead horse-beating? Or is that a male-only event?
